PARENTS WORKSHOP | TOPIC: CONSCIOUS PARENTING St. John's School, GNW, in collaboration with Anon Global Foundation, organized a workshop on Saturday, July 20, 2024, for parents on the topic "Conscious Parenting." The spokesperson was Dr. Arti Girdhar, Founder & President of ANON Global Foundation. This workshop was divided into three sessions: the first session for parents of class III students, the second for parents of class IV students, and the third for parents of class V students. The workshop emphasized the integral role of parents in the collaborative development of children and the importance of understanding healthy parenting. The sessions were interactive, with parents demonstrating enthusiastic involvement.Key points discussed included:Self-Appreciation: Recognizing and appreciating their own uniqueness and blessings.Individualized Parenting: Understanding that each child is unique with individual talents and avoiding comparisons. Tailoring parenting approaches to fit each child's unique needs.Embracing Learning: Adopting the mindset of "sometimes you win, sometimes you learn," and teaching children that failure is a learning opportunity. To make the sessions more interactive, parents engaged in activities related to the Ramayana to impart moral lessons and cultural values. They also participated in activities to understand how hormones like cortisol and oxytocin influence behavior and physical changes.Parents were advised to be less complaining and more grateful for the resources they have, making the best of what is available. They were encouraged to avoid making children overly dependent by being too conscious and to always motivate and appreciate others. The workshop was a great success, as parents found the content relatable to their own conflicts and uncertainties.

INTER HOUSE DEBATE COMPETITIONTo be a winner, sharpen your logic, improve your arguments, and speak like an orator. With a commitment to the multidimensional development of its students, St. John's School organized an inter-house debate competition. Each house was represented by two participants, and the topic was given on the spot. Each team had 10 minutes to present their views either for or against the motion. The debate began with Carmel House versus Horeb House, followed by Tabore House versus Sinai House. The participants' well-prepared arguments and logical reasoning were evident. While all participants performed admirably, the title ultimately goes to the orator who best convinces the judges with facts and meets the judging criteria. Sinai House emerged victorious, and Shrishti Audichya of Tabore House was named the best speaker, finishing as the runner-up. Congratulations to the winners and all the houses!
