Scott Braden Cawthon was born on June 4, 1978, in Houston, Texas, United States of America. There is not much information with regards to his background and upbringing. Cawthon is of the Christian faith.
Career
Scott Cawthon started his game design and animation began in the 1990s. He made his first game, “Doofas” when he was a child. The game later became a troll game as the “demo” of “Ultimate Custom Night”. He released his first official games in the early 2000s. Cawthon later joined Hope Animation, where he created animations for children based on Christian values.
In March 2017, he uploaded the first part of an eight-part series titled “The Pilgrim’s Progress” to his YouTube channel. Thereafter, he developed several games including, “Sit N’ Survive”, Chipper and Sons Lumber Co.,” and “The Desolate Hope”.
In June 2014, Cawthon submitted “Five Nights” at “Freddy’s” to Stream’s Greenlight system. A month later, he submitted the demo to IndieDB where it gained a massive amount of popularity. He also submitted the game third time to Desura.
In November 2014, Cawthon released the first sequel titled “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” on Steam. Not quite long, he released “Five Nights at Freddy’s 3” and “Five Nights at Freddy’s 4”. On January 21, 2016, he released a new role-playing video game (RPG) titled “FNaF World”. The game received mixed reviews prompting Cawthon to pull it from Steam fours days after release. An improved version of the game was released on Game Jolt on February 8, 2016
Subsequently, Cawthon released “Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location” and “Golden Freddy Mode”. In December 2017, he released “Freddy Fazbears” Pizzeria Simulator”.On June 16, 2021, Cawthon announced his retirement on his website.

As an author, Scott Cawthon released his first novel “Five Nights at Freddy’s: The Untold Story” in December 2015. Thereafter, he made a three-book deal with Scholastic Corporation. The first book, “The Silver Eyes” was released in October 2015, with the second and third released in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
