Alene Kathleen Kinsey of Fairland, OK passed from this life Saturday, August 10, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was 91.
Alene was born November 8, 1932, in Deer Lick Community, Delaware County, OK to Alfred and Rose (Graham) Lackey. She had lived in Fairland most of her life. Alene married the love of her life Elmer Kinsey on November 3, 1947, in Jay, OK. Soon after they were married, they moved to Ukiah, CA for a year, then to Vinita, OK where she worked at Vinita Hotel Restaurant for a period. They then moved to Commerce, followed by Miami, before moving to the home place in Fairland in 1955 where Alene lived on the farm until her passing.
Alene gladly and graciously was a stay-at-home mom for her children until they were all in school. She then worked as a restaurant hostess for Shangri-La for several years. After which she was employed by Audrey Boyer for several years at Boyers Dairy Snack in Fairland and for Lorene McCoin at the Afton House in Afton, OK. She had also worked for Helen and Gene Gardner at Ranch House and Home Style Restaurant. Alene’s most favorite job was working with her son Steven, daughter-in-law Cindy, and daughter Cindy Lee Chambers at the Kountry Kitchen in Miami for 9 years where she wore many hats. She was loved by all the customers and known for her German Chocolate pies. After retirement she helped with the Fairland Senior Citizens Center.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Fairland, OK. She was involved in the community through several organizations: Eastern Stars where she held many offices, 4-H Leader, Ottawa County Home Extension Group, the Jolly Workers for over 68 years, and served in many capacities and held numerous offices.
Alene was preceded in death by her husband Elmer Kinsey on April 6, 1993; 1 granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Glennan Chase; her parents Alfred and Rose Lackey; 2 brothers, JC Lackey and Son Lackey; 3 sisters, Alta Morgan; Fay Hudgins; and Imogene Wilson; and by her extended family, Eldo and Lillian Wojahn.
Survivors include: 4 sons, Elmer “Jr” Kinsey of Wyandotte, OK; Frank Kinsey and wife Betty of Fairland, OK; Doyle Kinsey and wife Darcy of Fairland, OK; and Steven Kinsey and wife Cindy of Miami, OK; 3 daughters, Charlotte Glennan of Fairland, OK; Judy Kinsey of Miami, OK; and Cindy Chambers and husband Scott of Miami, OK; 17 grandchildren, Dana Still and husband Brook; Laney Cook and husband Wesley; Paul Kinsey and wife Natalie; Craig Kinsey; Kenny Chase; Jill Prater and husband Chris; Clint Kinsey and wife Roxann; Austin Kinsey and wife Kara; Melissa Adams and husband Seth; Amy Fritchey; Ryan Kinsey and wife Shanda; Ashley Baldwin and husband Chris; Alicia Venegoni; Curtis Chambers and wife Jessica; Rylie Kinsey; Anna Ross and husband Dillon; and Kayla Davis and husband Garrett; 30 great grandchildren, Bradley Kinsey; Stone Roberts; Paige Clapp; Karly Chase; Dylan Mishmash; Aly Kinsey; Gracie Kinsey; Jackson Mishmash; Lani Kinsey; Aubrey Kinsey; Jacob Still; Colt Kinsey; Tori Kinsey; Ryah Kinsey; Cooper Fritchey; Asher Prater; Brady Kinsey; Mearah Adams; Fallon Kinsey; Senah Adams; Rylan Kinsey; Kasey Chase; Kyla Kinsey; Chandler Venegoni; Amiah Adams; Cash Baldwin; Ryker Kinsey; Daxton Elmer Kinsey; Clara Venegoni; and Denver Davis; 4 great-great grandchildren, Olive Roberts; Adalynn Roberts; Ronnie Clapp; and Harper Kinsey; 2 sister in laws, Geneva Frits; Mary Lackey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Alene will always be remembered for the way she loved all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved attending all their activities from sports, musicals, singing competitions and school events. Her family could not have asked for a better parent, grandparent, aunt, or sister. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, August 16, 2024 at First Christian Church in Fairland, OK. Rev. Geoff Buffalo will officiate. Interment will be in Fairland Cemetery in Fairland, OK. Pallbearers will be grandson’s Paul Kinsey, Craig Kinsey, Clint Kinsey, Austin Kinsey, Ryan Kinsey, Curtis Chambers and Rylie Kinsey. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at First Christian Church in Fairland, OK.
